This is a tremendous career opportunity for an early career actuary with pricing experience to take on direct responsibility for client work.<br><br>In addition to tactical responsibilities, Analysts are given opportunities to present their findings to their peers, project managers, and client relationship managers. Work is shared across the practice, giving everyone the opportunity to build their skills and showcase their abilities, and take on increasing responsibilities over time.<br><br>Our ideal hire for this role is someone who enjoys thinking critically to solve a client’s business problems; pairs their strong technical skills with creativity; is adept in independently managing their own workload; and is committed to the actuarial exam process through the Casualty Actuarial Society.<br><br><strong>This Person Will Also<br><br></strong><ul><li>Understand, modify, and operate complex spreadsheets and database tools to analyze data and solve problems</li><li>Receive, reconcile, manipulate, and analyze data using programming languages such as R and SQL</li><li>Check data for consistency</li><li>Develop and use actuarial models</li><li>Present findings to peers, project managers, and client relationship managers</li><li>Draft written reports and exhibits, and prepare other internal/external correspondence</li><li>Check their own and peers’ work for accuracy</li><li>Undertake research projects</li><li>Perform or assist with other duties assigned at the direction of Actuaries and Principals<br><br></li></ul><strong>Professional Qualifications<br><br></strong><strong>What We Are Looking For</strong> <br><br><ul><li>Completed bachelor’s degree (at time of application) in actuarial science, mathematics, data science, statistics, or other quantitative major</li><li>Two or more actuarial exams passed (at time of application)</li><li> Between one and four years of professional actuarial experience, which can include internship experience, to ideally include:</li><ul><li>Experience supporting commercial lines pricing and product development, including rate indications, rating plan development, loss cost multiplier (LCM) estimation, experience rating studies, competitor filing review or related pricing projects</li><li>Familiarity with ISO loss costs, rating plans, increased limit factors (ILFs), size-of-risk curves, and other commercial lines pricing concepts; familiarity with regulatory rate filing processes is also strongly preferred.</li></ul><li>Strong technical skill in Excel</li><li>Experience managing data and automating complex data manipulation tasks in R (preferred), SQL, SAS or other programming languages<br></li></ul><strong>Required Skills And Competencies<br><br></strong><ul><li>Available to start within 2-4 weeks of offer acceptance (this is an immediate hire)</li><li>Quick learner who takes initiative to dive deeper and solve problems</li><li>Able to adjust on the fly, to accept new assignments or shift focus, and balance multiple concurrent projects</li><li>“Big picture” thinking to help anticipate client needs</li><li>Superb attention to detail and technical accuracy</li><li>Self-sufficient, motivated to work independently</li><li>Enthusiasm for the work of our practice, and a strong work ethic to meet our clients’ needs</li><li>Collaborative by nature, willing to help wherever needed</li><li>Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to express or explain complicated technical concepts to a variety of audiences<br><br></li></ul><strong>Additional Skills And Experience Welcome<br><br></strong><ul><li>Prior P&C reserving experience</li><li>Proven technical skill in programming with SAS, R, Python and/or SQL (R most preferred)</li><li>Predictive modeling experience or an area of keen interest<br><br></li></ul><strong><em>Individual(s) must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for any immigration support or sponsorship from Milliman now or in the future. The expected application deadline for this job is October 16, 2026.<br><br><strong>Compensation<br><br></strong>The overall salary range for this role is $60,300 - $136,160. For candidates residing in: <br><br><ul><li>Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City,</li><ul><li>Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia, the range is: $69,345 - $121,555 if overall experience is less than 2 years; and</li><li>$77,740 - $136,160 if overall experience is greater than 2 years but less than 4 years.</li></ul></ul> <br><br><ul><li>All other states, the range is:</li><ul><li>$60,300 - $105,700 if overall experience is less than 2 years; and</li><li>$67,600 - $118,400 if overall experience is greater than 2 years but less than 4 years.<br></li></ul></ul>A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to: education (including passed actuarial exams), relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc. Employees of this practice are also eligible for an annual bonus program that is dependent on billable hours worked and the success of the practice.
