<p><b><span class="emphasis">Job Overview</span></b></p><p></p><p><span>Under general direction of the Airfield Operations Officer, conducts FAR 139 compliance inspections of runways, taxiways, ramps, and the safety areas; performs escorts of vehicles and equipment within the Air Operations Area (AOA) of the airport in a safe and efficient manner; monitors vehicular activity within the AOA for compliance with FAA and Airport rules and regulations; monitors, inspects, and reports unsafe conditions in and around AOA including non-movement areas and construction sites; monitors and facilitates communications within the Airport Operations Department.</span></p><p></p><p><span class="emphasis"><b>What you will be doing:</b></span></p><ul><li><p>Identify and anticipate operational and safety concerns by maintaining constant surveillance.</p></li><li><p>Conduct ramp observations remove Foreign Object Damage (FOD), document discrepancies, meet with Stakeholders to resolve issues in a timely manner.</p></li><li><p>Enforce the Airport Drivers Handbook by issuing Notice of Violations, as needed.</p></li><li><p>Safely operates Board vehicle to escort vehicles and equipment within the AOA.</p></li><li><p>Monitors and reviews construction safety plans, construction and maintenance work activities to provide a safe environment to ensure compliance with airport policies and procedures.</p></li><li><p>Advises Assistant Airfield Operations Officer and/or construction manager of unusual or unsafe conditions and occurrences.</p></li><li><p> Monitors two-way radio communications using Airport Board and FAA Air Traffic Control (ATC) radio frequencies; coordinates vehicular movement within the AOA via FAA ATC radio frequencies when necessary; communicates with various airport and Airport Board personnel via radio, phone, or in person.</p></li><li><p>Provides “Follow-Me” services for aircraft operations in low-visibility conditions; and provides escorts for others where assistance is needed to transverse the Aircraft Movement Area for aviation related activities in support of aircraft operations.</p></li><li><p>Conducts regular inspections of the Air Operations Area (airfield runways, taxiways, lighting and security) as may be necessary to ensure compliance with FAR 139. Assists with safety, security and wildlife inspections; reports unsafe, hazardous, and threatening conditions to his/her supervisor, and/or the proper authority.</p></li><li><p>Monitors and supports airfield activities during snow and ice events and reports on any areas that need corrective actions; monitors deicing activities and reports non-complying conditions.</p></li><li><p>Assists Corporate Aviation staff, as needed, such as the marshaling of aircraft and passenger/crew assistance</p></li><li><p>Operates Board computer or iPad or smartphone in vehicle to compile data and reports during field work.</p></li><li><p>Assists with closing and opening portions of the airfield as necessary to ensure a safe and efficient airfield operation</p></li><li><p>Documents reportable incidents on assigned shift, compiles data, inspection records and other information into routine and special reports as necessary.</p></li><li><p>Administers and documents the field and office training for new Airfield Operations Agents and re-currency while on shift.</p></li><li><p>Responds to real or potential emergencies, assists the on-scene commander as directed and supports the overall emergency on the AOA to ensure safe airfield operations.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><span class="emphasis"><b>What you need: </b></span></p><ul><li><p>Completion of high school curriculum or equivalent.</p></li><li><p>Two (2) years of airfield experience in one (1) or more of the following areas:</p></li><li><p>Pilot</p></li><li><p>Aircraft/flight line</p></li><li><p>Airport operations at a small, medium or large hub airport</p></li><li><p>Air Traffic Control Tower operator</p></li><li><p>Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.</p></li><li><p>Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><span class="emphasis"><b>Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:</b></span></p><ul><li><p>Knowledge of principles and procedures involved in the operation of a FAR 139 certificated airport.</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of the applicable federal rules and regulations affecting the safe and efficient operation of a FAR Part 139 certificated airport.</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of the physical facilities and layout of an airport and of aircraft configurations in accordance with FAA standards.</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of two-way radio terminology and protocol.</p></li><li><p>Ability to drive for extended periods of time and escort vehicular traffic within active AOA.</p></li><li><p>Ability to hear and communicate clearly by two-way radio using proper terminology and radio protocol.</p></li><li><p>Ability to follow oral and written instructions.</p></li><li><p>Ability to prepare and maintain supportive records, reports and files.</p></li><li><p>Ability to deal courteously, tactfully and effectively with tenants, construction workers and other employees.</p></li><li><p>Maintain the ability and flexibility to work all shifts and needed and assigned by supervisor or manager based on department needs.</p></li><li><p>Maintain the ability to work extended shifts hours (overtime) in order to ensure adequate resources are available to sustain the operations on the airfield.</p></li><li><p>Ability to pass a medical physical examination.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><span class="emphasis"><b>Special requirements:</b></span></p><ul><li><p>Ability to obtain Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection (CBP) security access clearance within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for CBP security access clearance upon each CBP security access renewal.</p></li><li><p>This is a designated safety sensitive position as defined in DFW Airport’s Drug and Alcohol Administrative Policy and Procedure.
