AOG Operator

Location: London Heathrow, GB

AOG Operator

We are a global supply chain solutions provider with a presence in more than 170 countries and a team of over 110,000 employees. Our Air Freight team is looking for an experienced AOG Operator to support a 24/7 AOG control tower environment based in London Skyline.

YOUR ROLE

The AOG Operator will lead and support a high performing team, overseeing urgent, time‑sensitive shipments from end to end. You’ll play a key role in operational decision‑making, managing escalations, and ensuring exceptional service delivery in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

  • Supervise daily AOG (aircraft on ground) operations, ensuring all shipments are actioned immediately and accurately
  • Oversee end‑to‑end air freight activities including collections, routings, bookings, and final‑mile delivery
  • Make real‑time decisions on urgent shipments, including routing, carrier selection, and contingency planning
  • Ensure all customs, MAWB, and regulatory documentation is completed accurately and on time
  • Proactively monitor high‑priority shipments, intervening early to prevent delays
  • Act as the primary escalation point for customers and internal stakeholders
  • Provide clear, timely, and proactive communication to customers
  • Build strong relationships with airlines, MROs, OEMs, and logistics partners
  • Lead, coach, and support AOG Operators, ensuring strong performance across shifts
  • Manage workload distribution, KPIs, and effective shift handovers
  • Ensure full compliance with aviation security, customs, and internal policies
  • Conduct quality checks on documentation, routings, and supplier bookings
  • Drive continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and service delivery
  • Support cost control through effective supplier management and accurate costing

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

To be successful in your application you will have proven experience within AOG or time‑critical air freight operations with strong knowledge of air freight processes, customs requirements and MAWB documentation. You will have proven team leadership or supervisory experience, able to coach, develop and mentor your team. It goes without saying that you will be a natural communicator, problem‑solver, negotiator and influencer who is able to make quick and accurate decisions in a fast‑paced environment. You will be IT literate and able to use freight systems such as Cargowise. Due to the nature of the role and security clearance requirements it is essential for the successful candidate to have resided in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.

WHAT DO WE HAVE TO OFFER?

We offer a benefits package that includes competitive annual leave entitlement with a holiday buy scheme, pension and life assurance, and access to an employee benefits platform with discounts on gym memberships and vouchers for a diverse range of retail, travel and hospitality brands.
