Instructional Designer/Developer

<h3>About the Role</h3><p>ELB Learning is looking for a <strong>hands-on Instructional Designer/Developer</strong> to support a major enterprise transformation initiative for a large client in the events and experiential services industry.</p><p>This is a <strong>20-hour/week contract opportunity</strong>, with an anticipated start in <strong>September 2026</strong>, supporting teams through new systems, updated processes, and broader business transformation initiatives.</p><p>The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded ID/Developer who can work comfortably across <strong>technical and non-technical audiences</strong>, translate complex processes into clear learning experiences, and help employees adapt to new ways of working.</p><p>A major part of the work will involve developing <strong>eLearning, simulations, software demonstrations, job aids, handouts, and other performance-support materials</strong> that employees can use as new systems and processes go live.</p><p>The client operates primarily on <strong>Central Time</strong>.</p><h3>What You'll Be Doing</h3><ul><li><p>Design and develop engaging learning solutions for <strong>software implementations, system changes, and business process transitions</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Create <strong>eLearning, job aids, handouts, process guides, simulations, demonstrations, and other performance-support materials</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Develop learning that helps employees understand not only <em>what</em> is changing, but <strong>how to perform their work successfully in the new environment</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Translate complex technical processes into clear, practical and learner-friendly content.</p></li><li><p>Support software/system training initiatives, including <strong>SAP and NetSuite-related transformation work</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Develop materials that allow learners and facilitators to practice and run simulations independently.</p></li><li><p>Create learning for both <strong>asynchronous and synchronous environments</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Partner with SMEs, project teams, communications, technical teams and business stakeholders throughout the development process.</p></li><li><p>Work closely with communications partners to incorporate appropriate <strong>change messaging and business context</strong> into learning materials.</p></li><li><p>Help teams transition from established processes to new ways of working while keeping the messaging positive and focused on the benefits of the change.</p></li><li><p>Facilitate discovery conversations and gather information from SMEs and stakeholders.</p></li><li><p>Manage multiple learning deliverables and shifting priorities while maintaining quality and deadlines.</p></li><li><p>Review existing learning materials and determine what can be reused, updated or rebuilt.</p></li><li><p>Support learning initiatives surrounding enterprise system and process transformations.</p></li><li><p>Develop practical performance support that employees can reference <strong>at the moment of need</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Ensure learning materials are clear, accessible, visually engaging and aligned with the client's business goals.</p></li></ul><h3>Key Projects</h3><p>The role may support several enterprise initiatives, including:</p><p><strong>SAP Conversion</strong></p><ul><li><p>Supporting the transition of the Sparks brand from <strong>NetSuite to SAP</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Helping employees understand differences between existing Sparks processes and Freeman's processes.</p></li><li><p>Developing learning and performance support as the project moves toward implementation.</p></li></ul><p><strong>ServiceNow</strong></p><ul><li><p>Supporting a longer-term ServiceNow initiative involving Deloitte.</p></li><li><p>Potentially updating existing learning materials and adapting content to new branding and processes.</p></li></ul><p><strong>Freeman Next</strong></p><ul><li><p>Supporting a large enterprise transition from an existing environment to a new operating model.</p></li><li><p>The initiative impacts event management and operations teams.</p></li><li><p>A major focus will be helping employees who have been accustomed to existing processes successfully adopt new ones.</p></li></ul><h3>What We're Looking For</h3><ul><li><p>3+ years of hands-on <strong>Instructional Design/Development</strong> experience.</p></li><li><p>Experience designing learning for <strong>software implementations, systems training, process changes, or technical environments</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Strong experience creating <strong>eLearning and performance-support materials</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Experience developing <strong>job aids, process guides, handouts, simulations and software demonstrations</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Experience working with both technical and non-technical audiences.</p></li><li><p>Comfortable collaborating with SMEs, project managers, communications teams, technical teams and business stakeholders.</p></li><li><p>Strong ability to take complex information and make it <strong>simple, clear and practical</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Experience working with organizations or teams that may be resistant to change or hesitant to adopt new processes.</p></li><li><p>Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.</p></li><li><p>Ability to frame change positively and create learning that helps people understand the <strong>"why" behind the change</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Able to work independently while also collaborating closely with a larger project team.</p></li><li><p>Comfortable managing multiple priorities and working in a changing project environment.</p></li></ul><h3>Preferred Technical Skills</h3><p>Experience with some or all of the following is highly desirable:</p><ul><li><p><strong>Articulate Rise experience supporting system implementations or conversions.</em></p><h3>Success in This Role</h3><p>The successful candidate will be someone who can step into a complex business environment, quickly understand how people currently work, identify what needs to change, and turn that information into <strong>clear, practical and engaging learning</strong>.</p><p>You should be comfortable asking questions, working with SMEs, challenging unclear information when needed, and helping teams move through change without making the learning feel overwhelming or negative.</p>
