Planner II Planning Development Services
The purpose of this position is to provide planning and development review services for current Planning projects. This role represents a key position in supporting Concord’s continued growth and development, ensuring projects align with the City’s policies, ordinances, and vision for the future.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides development assistance and review by interpreting zoning ordinances and development and subdivision codes, advising developers on appropriate measures and processes, coordinating with reviewing departments to ensure compliance with development ordinance, issuing development permits, and conducting zoning inspections.
- Serves as the primary initial contact for the Development Review Committee (DRC). Plans and coordinates meetings, including preparing follow-up meeting summaries.
- Provides guidance to civil engineers, surveyors, and other consultants on various issues relating to projects and reviews Planning documents to ensure adherence to applicable guidelines, standards, and provisions.
- Reviews and approves minor subdivision plats.
- Reviews and approves commercial building permits.
- Serves as supplemental support for Planner I in signing reviews.
- Assists with research for zoning ordinances, regulations, and processes from surrounding municipalities, guidance from the NC School of Government, and general statutes, to make recommendations to help guide ordinance amendments.
- Creates responses to more in-depth public planning and development inquiries.
- Handles complaints and grievances from the public.
