About UPS & Our Culture

Before the iconic brown package cars roll out each morning, our Preload team has already been working for hours — sorting, sequencing, and loading every single route in the building. The UPS Preload shift is the most strategically important sort window in our package center operation, and the associates who master it become the most sought-after talent in our network. These early-morning UPS warehouse jobs are ideal for anyone who wants their afternoons completely free while building toward one of the best logistics careers available without a college degree.

What Our Team Says (Employee Reviews)

"Preload is a different world. You own your cars — the drivers depend on you completely. When a driver tells you your load was perfect, that means everything. The shift ends by 9 AM, my afternoons are completely free, and I have already been promoted to a Preload Air Driver role because UPS rewards the people who show up and perform. These are the most underrated UPS warehouse jobs out there." - Current Preload Associate, Atlanta, GA.

Role Overview & Responsibilities

As a UPS Preload Warehouse Associate, you work the critical early-morning window responsible for sorting inbound overnight volume and loading it precisely into assigned delivery package cars before drivers arrive to begin their routes.

  • Inbound Belt Sorting: Pull packages from the inbound conveyor and sort them into the correct delivery car, cage, or route slot using barcode scanning and load chart reference without interruption during peak belt flow.
  • Sequence Load Building: Load assigned package cars in precise stop-by-stop delivery sequence, placing packages label-out in shelf positions that allow the driver to pull each stop cleanly without searching.
  • Air Package Priority Handling: Identify and segregate UPS Next Day Air and 2nd Day Air packages at the belt, ensuring all air-committed parcels are loaded in priority positions before any ground package is placed in the car.

Benefits & Perks

Preload Associates receive the full Teamsters benefits package — medical, dental, vision, and pension — from their first day of union eligibility. The UPS Earn & Learn tuition program provides up to $25,000 in education funding. An early shift end time gives Preload Associates uniquely free afternoons among all warehouse jobs in the logistics sector.
