Sr Forecasting Specialist

The job entails providing expertise in forecasting, modeling, and simulation for various aspects of a companys operations, including project staffing, facility planning, technology implementation, and annual business planning.

Essential Functions

  • Develops project plans, ensures project completion and accuracy, and coordination with team members.
  • Develops alternative forecasting techniques and computer systems to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Conducts retrospective analysis of forecast accuracy and incorporate relevant factors such as new products, services, events, and economic variables into forecasts.
  • Defines data requirements, creates databases, and utilizes software applications to obtain necessary data.
  • Develops advanced forecasting systems and provides access to forecasts through online databases and reporting systems.
  • Responsible for developing models to predict operational volumes in various areas of customer service and international operations.
  • Employees statistical and modeling techniques to analyze operating statistics and components.
  • Develops predictive models are developed to identify significant business trends, enabling accurate forecasts that support manpower planning for short-term, annual, and long-range requirements.
  • Prepares, develops, and reports forecast analysis for senior management.
  • Communicates and presents forecasts to users, ensuring clarity in assumptions, and meeting user needs in a timely manner.
  • Involves developing alternative forecasting techniques and computer systems to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Develops models to predict operational volumes in various areas of customer service and international operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in airline operations, flight dispatch, or fuel planning
  • Direct experience with fuel tankering software and/or flight planning systems
  • Knowledge of aircraft performance factors, global aviation regulations, and commodity markets
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with demonstrated ability to develop structured tools, analyses, and presentations
  • Advanced proficiency in analytical software tools (SAS, Power BI, etc.) and programming languages (SQL, Python, etc.)
  • Builds and maintains strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across the broader FedEx organization, to leverage organizational expertise, scale, purchasing capabilities, and transportation network advantages that support business performance and strategic growth


Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, economics, or operations research required.

Related experience may offset degree requirements and related education/degree may offset experience requirements.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years of experience in forecasting, business analysis, and operations research using advanced computer modeling techniques required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong statistical, analytical and forecasting experience and abilities

Strong end-to-end project management skills

Ability to use techniques to develop models

Preferred Qualifications: This position is eligible for remote work and may be located anywhere within the United States excluding AK, HI and U.S. territories, however if you live within the 50 miles radius of a campus you will be required to work at a FedEx campus location several times per week.
