Sr. Product Manager, Relay Carrier Onboarding and Compliance

DESCRIPTION

Amazon Relay is seeking a Senior Product Manager to define and drive the product strategy for Carrier Onboarding and Safety and Compliance, a critical product suite that ensures every carrier entering and operating within Amazon's transportation network meets the highest standards of safety, regulatory compliance, and operational readiness.

In this role, you will own the vision, roadmap, and end-to-end product strategy for the systems and experiences that govern how carriers are onboarded onto Relay and how their safety and compliance posture is continuously monitored. You will design and scale products that accelerate carrier activation, reduce time-to-first-load, and automate compliance verification.

This is a high-visibility, high-impact role at the intersection of carrier experience, regulatory compliance, safety, and product strategy. The ideal candidate is a product leader with a track record of building onboarding, trust and safety, or compliance products at scale, ideally in a marketplace, gig economy, or transportation platform context, who can balance the urgency of carrier activation with the rigor of safety and regulatory enforcement.

Key job responsibilities
Onboarding Product Vision & Strategy:
  • Define and own the multi-year product vision and roadmap for carrier onboarding, aligning with Relay's broader carrier acquisition, activation, and supply acceleration strategy.
  • Identify and prioritize the highest-impact investments across onboarding workflow design, document collection, carrier credentialing, and first-load activation to reduce friction and accelerate time-to-haul.
  • Develop a deep understanding of carrier onboarding pain points, drop-off patterns, and activation barriers across carrier segments (fleet size, supply type, geography) to design an onboarding experience that converts newly registered carriers into active, productive participants in the Relay network.
  • Benchmark against leading onboarding and credentialing platforms to identify best practices and differentiation opportunities that position Relay as the easiest and most trusted marketplace for carriers to get started.

Safety & Compliance Product Design
  • Design and own the product suite for carrier safety and compliance verification, including FMCSA US DOT, operating authority, and BASICs verification checks.
  • Build and scale automated compliance monitoring systems that continuously verify carriers and proactively identify lapses before they create network risk.
  • Partner with Legal, Safety, and Ops teams to ensure all compliance products reflect current FMCSA, DOT, and regulatory requirements, and that enforcement actions are applied consistently and defensibly across the carrier base.

Carrier Activation & Supply Acceleration
  • Own the product roadmap for carrier activation features within Relay, including guided onboarding UX, progress tracking, milestone notifications, and proactive nudges that move carriers from registration through search, booking, and first-load execution.
  • Design and drive carrier lifecycle programs that identify and address activation bottlenecks, carriers who register but never search, search but never book, or book but never haul, with targeted interventions to close conversion gaps.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Influence
  • Serve as the single-threaded product leader for Carrier Onboarding and Safety and Compliance, coordinating across Ops, Product, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Safety, and Leadership.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leadership and stakeholders across Relay Product/Tech and Ops teams.
  • Define and track program metrics, including onboarding conversion rates, time-to-first-load, compliance verification cycle times, carrier suspension and reinstatement rates, safety incident rates, and violation rate trends. Deliver regular executive-level reporting on program health and carrier safety outcomes.
  • Develop carrier-facing communications and in-app experiences that make onboarding and compliance intuitive, transparent, and easy to navigate.

A day in the life
Your day begins with a review of onboarding funnel metrics, tracking carrier registration-to-activation conversion rates, compliance verification queue depths, and early signals of onboarding drop-off across key carrier segments. From there, you're in a roadmap review with Engineering to align on the next compliance automation launch, followed by a cross-functional sync with Legal and Safety to finalize the enforcement framework. In the afternoon, you're presenting a carrier activation strategy to Director and VP-level stakeholders, grounding your recommendations in onboarding funnel data, compliance pass rates, and competitive benchmarking. Your customers are the carriers who depend on Relay for their livelihoods and the Ops and Safety teams who depend on a compliant, safe, and reliable carrier base. The core problems you're solving: accelerating carrier activation, ensuring every carrier on the network meets Amazon's safety and compliance standards, and building an onboarding and compliance experience that makes Relay the most trusted place to go for carriers, from day one and every day after.

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

3. WHAT IS "WORKING REMOTE" REALLY FOR YOU?

Many people want to work remotely because of the flexibility it allows. You can work anywhere and at any time of the day...

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?
