Field Service Technician (Industrial Equipment)

The Field Service Technician (Industrial Equipment) will oversee and execute the installation and startup of critical process and support systems at Daniels Health medical waste treatment facilities. You’ll be responsible for developing installation plans, purchasing and coordinating equipment, and ensuring all utilities and systems are correctly integrated for reliable operations.

This is a hands-on, cross-functional engineering role that blends project management, mechanical system expertise, and construction oversight, contributing directly to Daniels Health’s mission of creating safer, more efficient, and sustainable medical waste solutions.

This role requires up to 60% travel to our various locations across the United States.

What you will do

  • Lead the installation, startup, and commissioning of process equipment and utility systems at Daniels Health treatment facilities across North America.
  • Develop installation plans, schedules, and project execution strategies for facility expansions, upgrades, and new site builds.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, project managers, and operations teams to ensure safe, on-time, and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Manage procurement, technical review, and integration of equipment including autoclaves, wash systems, boilers, compactors, compressors, conveyors, and supporting utilities.
  • Interpret and verify mechanical drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics, submittals, and field changes to ensure installation quality and compliance.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and controls-related issues during installation and startup, driving timely resolution and system optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, LOTO, and site safety requirements while supporting operator training, documentation, and CMMS implementation.

What we are looking for

  • 5+ years of experience in industrial equipment installation, manufacturing engineering, facility construction, maintenance, field service, or commissioning environments.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience working on industrial machinery, including conveyors, drives, bearings, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment.
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motors, sensors, relays, control circuits, and safe troubleshooting practices.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, automation systems, and industrial controls; ability to follow I/O, diagnose equipment issues, and support startup activities.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, mechanical drawings, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Proven problem-solving, communication, and project coordination skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to travel up to 50-60% of the time
