The Registered Nurse utilizes best scientific evidence and compassion to assist the patient in navigating their health journey. The Registered Nurse accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for management and provision of care in accordance with the current policies and procedures. Provides and documents patient care under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Nurse Manager/Nurse Manager.<br><br><strong>Qualifications<br><br></strong><strong>Education:</strong> Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required. 4 Year/Bachelor’s Degree preferred.<br><br><strong>Experience:</strong> 1 year of relevant experience preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.<br><br><strong>Licensure:</strong> Current RN licensure in applicable state required. CPI certification within three months of hire required for Behavioral Health, Emergency Department, and Central Staffing and Scheduling Office (CSSO). If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.<br><br><strong>Additional Skills/Requirements Required:</strong> Ability to perform basic nursing skills on groups of patients and ability to assume charge responsibility. Ability to multitask and prioritize quickly. Ability to administer medication utilizing the five rights. Ability to communicate verbally and in written form. Basic computer knowledge. Ability to safely and effectively care for all patient populations which present to the department.<br><br><strong>Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred:</strong> N/A<br><br><strong>Competencies<br><br></strong><ul><li>Patient Care: Acts with patient advocacy when implementing the interdisciplinary plan of care.</li><ul><li>Collaborates with healthcare team to educate patient and their support system.</li><li>Analyzes, modifies, and implements strategies to progress the patient through their plan of care.</li><li>Ensures completion of nursing interventions, medical orders, and other related therapies.</li><li>Prioritizes job duties according to patients' needs and changing acuity levels.</li></ul><li>Teamwork: Develops and maintains positive relationships with team members/internal customers to provide efficient treatment of patients.</li><ul><li>Develops team members through mentoring, precepting, orientation, and providing feedback.</li><li>Resolves conflicts independently, as appropriate.</li><li>Accepts responsibility for actions and responds positively upon feedback from others.</li></ul><li>Medical Knowledge: Demonstrates medical skills to provide required patient care.</li><ul><li>Operates various equipment including portable cardiac monitors, bedside commodes, etc.</li><li>Provides routine nursing care such as starting IVs, performing dressing changes, etc. for multiple patients in a timely manner.</li><li>Assists in critical situations including administering CPR.</li><li>Administers and evaluates medication therapies, performs patient transfers, and transports patients via wheelchair, hospital bed, or stretcher to other departments.<br></li></ul></ul><strong>The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.<br><br></strong><strong><strong>PHYSICAL DEMANDS<br><br></strong></strong><strong>Physical Demand Code:</strong> Medium to Heavy Physical Demand: The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment. Please note that the pay range does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, and other incentives that may be available for those in eligible positions.
