address issues before they become problems

Confirm that final products meet specifications, quality expectations, and delivery requirements

Maintain ownership of open projects rather than relying on customers or coworkers to remind you what needs to happen next

Customer Communication & Success

Communicate directly with customers by telephone and email

Help customers translate their goals into practical print specifications and solutions

Explain production options, timelines, materials, and tradeoffs in clear language

Provide proactive project updates, particularly when timing or specifications change

Set realistic expectations and communicate quickly when a challenge arises

Build strong relationships with customers by being knowledgeable, responsive, and dependable

Follow up on open estimates and pending projects to make sure opportunities do not get lost

Our customers should feel that their project is in capable hands.

Estimating & Print Planning

Review artwork, quantities, sizes, substrates, finishing Coordination

Provide Production with complete and accurate project information

Coordinate outsourced production when work is better suited to an outside partner

Request and compare vendor pricing

Communicate specifications and deadlines clearly to outside vendors

Coordinate logistics, pickups, deliveries, and other project requirements

Monitor outsourced projects to ensure they remain on schedule

Conduct occasional on-press or vendor quality checks when appropriate

Help resolve quality, timing, file, or production problems quickly and professionally

What We're Looking For

Professional experience in commercial printing, digital printing, wide-format printing, print production, print estimating, or print project management

Strong understanding of common print production workflows

Experience interpreting print specifications and identifying missing or conflicting information

Strong customer service and relationship-building skills

Comfortable speaking professionally with customers on the telephone

Excellent written communication skills

Exceptionally organized with the ability to manage many active projects simultaneously

Strong attention to detail

Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines

Able to gather information independently and ask thoughtful questions when clarification is needed

Strong problem-solving ability and good judgment

Comfortable learning and using technology, including Microsoft Office, CRM systems, estimating systems, and ChatGPT

Able to use AI and other technology as practical tools for research, organization, communication, problem-solving, and improving productivity

Experience working in a small business is preferred

Collaborative, flexible, and willing to help outside a narrow job description when the business needs it

Printing Experience

Prior printing experience is strongly preferred for this position.

A candidate does not need to know every piece of equipment or every production method we use, but they should arrive with a meaningful understanding of how commercial print projects move from specifications and files through production and delivery.

How We Work at ABGContinuous Improvement

At ABG, we believe in constantly striving to better our service, our company, and ourselves.

We expect Project Managers to learn from every project. When something goes wrong, the goal is not simply to fix that one job. We want to understand why it happened and look for ways to prevent it from happening again.

You should be comfortable receiving feedback, examining your own work critically, and improving your processes over time.

Ownership

When you own a project, you are accountable for the outcome.

That does not mean doing every task yourself. It means knowing where the project stands, communicating with the people involved, identifying problems, and making sure the project reaches the finish line.

If information is missing, find it. If you are unsure, ask. If something is falling behind, address it.

Communication

ABG operates quickly, and our customers depend on us for time-sensitive work.

Strong communication is therefore a core part of the job.

We expect Project Managers to communicate rapidly, clearly, and proactively with customers, Production, vendors, and other departments.

A customer should rarely need to ask us, "What's happening with my job?"

Our Goals

Everyone at ABG works toward three standards:

Always Be Dependable

Our customers rely on us for important, time-sensitive projects. Do what you say you will do and communicate when circumstances change.

Always Be Thorough

Details matter in printing. Specifications, quantities, files, finishing, addresses, timing, and delivery instructions all matter. Check your work.

Always Be Responsive

Move quickly. Answer questions. Communicate status. Do not allow a small issue to become a large one because nobody responded.

Always Be Great: ABG Print

The Person Who Will Be Successful Here

You enjoy managing a lot of moving pieces.

You naturally follow up.

When a customer sends an incomplete request, you know which questions to ask. When something looks wrong, you investigate it rather than assuming someone else has checked it. When a deadline is tight, you communicate early and make a plan.

You are comfortable making decisions, but you also know when to involve Production or another team member.

You do not view project management as simply passing information between customers and Production. You see your job as owning the outcome.

You also enjoy learning. Printing is full of unusual projects, changing technology, and situations that do not fit perfectly into a checklist. The strongest Project Managers become better every year because they remain curious.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $55,000-$75,000 per year, depending on experience

Benefits include:

401(k)

Health insurance

Dental insurance

Vision insurance

Paid time off

Work Location

In person, Midtown Manhattan, New York City

This is an on-site position. Project management at ABG requires close communication with Production and firsthand understanding of the work moving through the facility.

To Apply

Please submit your resume and answer the application questions below.

We pay attention to how candidates communicate. Clear, concise, and thoughtful answers matter.

Application Questions

Describe your experience with commercial, digital, or wide-format printing. What types of projects have you personally managed?

A customer asks for 500 brochures "as soon as possible" but provides few other details. What questions would you ask before quoting or sending the project to production?

Tell us about a time you caught an error or missing detail before a project reached production. What did you notice and what did you do?

Tell us about a project where something went wrong, such as a production delay, quality issue, incorrect file, or missed deadline. How did you handle the problem and communicate with the customer?

Give us an example of how you have used AI, software, or another technology to help you organize work, solve a problem, or become more effective.
